Evisceration vs Enucleation: Two Honest Operations, Not a Product
Evisceration vs enucleation is a medical-necessity fork: contents of a blind painful eye, or the globe itself. ReliveCure maps first. We do not book globe repair or sell trauma before-after.

Evisceration vs enucleation is the fork families hear after a blind painful eye, after a severe infection, or after a tumour map. Evisceration takes the contents of the eye and leaves the scleral shell. Enucleation takes the globe, often with an orbital implant. Both are medical necessity when they are honest. Neither is a ReliveCure shopping CTA. We do not book open-globe repair from this page. We do not run trauma graphics as ads.
ReliveCure evaluates in Gurugram, Hyderabad, Pune or Mumbai. If the eye is painful and blind today, or infection is spreading after surgery, call +91 96500 23161. Screening first. A child with a white reflex is a same-day dilated exam, not this comparison article.
What evisceration is
The cornea and the inside of a blind, painful, or hopelessly infected eye come out. The white shell can stay. An implant may sit in that shell so the lids have volume later. Typical story: a painful blind eye after old trauma or endophthalmitis that cannot be saved. The aim is comfort and a socket that can take a prosthesis later — not a cosmetic “new eye” promise.
India private-market band for evisceration, blind painful eye: about ₹40,000–90,000, typically covered as medical necessity. Not a ReliveCure quote.
What enucleation is
The whole globe comes out. An orbital implant often goes in so the socket does not collapse. Typical story: an intraocular tumour that needs the globe, or an eye that cannot be left. OSSN is a surface growth and is not automatically this operation. Childhood retinoblastoma is its own page. Adult melanoma conversations belong in oncology notes, not a blog package.
India private-market band for enucleation + orbital implant: about ₹70,000–1,80,000, typically covered. Exact figure after the map.
Parent: eye surgery insurance in India. Cashless option also available. May not be as well — depends on the personal case.
How we choose — and what we will not write
Pain, vision that is already gone, infection that will not clear, tumour that needs the globe, the other eye’s health, whether a shell can stay. That is a clinic conversation with photographs and, when needed, histopathology.
What we will not put in our notes: “elective,” “cosmetic improvement,” “patient desired appearance.” Those phrases lose claims and they are not how we talk about a blind painful eye. Injury insurance still applies when the story started as trauma — accidents typically skip PED wait — but the booking from an open globe is not this URL.
Thyroid orbit is a different tissue. Do not mash it here.
A seeing eye with pain is not this comparison. We treat pain and, when infection is the story, we treat infection first. Removal is what you discuss when vision is already gone or the globe cannot stay. Families often want a same-week shell. The socket needs quiet first; the prosthesis URL is that later conversation.
Call today versus a quiet map
Same day: painful blind eye, post-surgical infection, a mass you were told might be a tumour, a child with leukocoria. Phone +91 96500 23161.
This week: already told one of the two words, asking the difference, socket quiet enough to talk about a later shell.
Not this page: a seeing eye with a pterygium. LASIK. A cosmetic lid.
Where ReliveCure fits
You come in. We look. When evisceration is enough, we say so. When the globe has to come out, we say so. When neither is honest yet, we treat pain and infection first. Cities: Gurugram, Hyderabad, Pune or Mumbai. We will not promise a matching photograph. We will not use before-after as a removal advert.
