LASIK Insurance in India: Usually Not Covered — Convenience Is Not a Function Claim

LASIK insurance in India usually does not pay. Laser to reduce glasses is treated as convenience, not a medical function claim. ReliveCure maps the cornea first and stays honest about cover.

LASIK insurance in India is the search after a friend said “mediclaim will take it,” a corporate rumour, or an ad that treated laser like a cashless cataract. Honest answer first: LASIK is usually not covered. The source rule is simple. Insurers pay function. They do not pay appearance or convenience. Laser to reduce glasses sits on the “almost never covered” list with spectacles and purely cosmetic lids. We will not invent a power cut-off to make the SERP friendlier.

You come to ReliveCure in Gurugram, Hyderabad, Pune or Mumbai for a free LASIK screening — that map is the clinical fork, not this policy paragraph. Screening page: LASIK screening. Treatment: LASIK. If the cornea is a cone, stop: keratoconus treatment. High power or a thin cornea may point to ICL — also usually self-pay; see ICL insurance. Parent: eye surgery insurance in India.

What insurers actually look at

Refractive surgery for convenience is not a function claim. SMILE, PRK, LASIK — the brand of laser does not convert a glasses wish into a medical necessity. OPD maps and consults are usually self-pay without a rider.

If a complication of a covered operation is a separate, rare file, that still does not mean “LASIK is covered.” Do not use a complication story to sell a convenience procedure.

Keratoconus CXL and transplant are different URLs and different medical stories. Do not mash them into a LASIK claim.

Cashless LASIK as a headline is a lie we will not print. Cashless option also available. May not be as well — depends on the personal case — and for elective laser that case is usually self-pay.

Workup for LASIK is a cornea map, thickness, dry-eye and retina check so we do not laser a bad candidate. That workup is still usually OPD. Paying for a good screen is not proof that the laser sitting will be reimbursed. If the map is irregular, we stop — we do not “try LASIK anyway” to unlock a rumour of cover.

What this URL will not do

It will not dump a ReliveCure LASIK rate card. Indicative technology bands live on the LASIK treatment page, confirmed at screening. This page is cover honesty.

It will not say cheapest, best in the world, or guaranteed 6/6. Screening first. Thin, irregular, or keratoconus corneas are not LASIK corneas.

Call today versus a planned screen

Same day: pain, sudden drop, infection after a laser done elsewhere. Call +91 96500 23161.

Booked screening: you want glasses reduced and you want the policy question answered without a fairy tale. Bring the PDF if a corporate line actually names refractive surgery. We still will not guess an exception from this article.

EMI, when you choose treatment, is a payment plan — not proof that insurance will pay.

Where ReliveCure fits

ReliveCure maps the cornea first. If LASIK is suitable, we say so, and we say the claim is usually yours to fund. If it is not suitable, we say that too. Care in Gurugram, Hyderabad, Pune or Mumbai.

Questions patients ask us

Usually no. Elective refractive surgery for convenience is almost never a health claim. We check *your* wording if you bring it — we still do not promise cover from this blog.
