OCT Insurance in India: OPD Eye Tests Usually Need a Rider
OCT insurance in India is usually an OPD story: scans, fields and angiography are typically not covered without an OPD rider. The surgery they justify is a different file. ReliveCure checks your policy at evaluation.

OCT insurance India searches start the same way: a glaucoma or retina follow-up, a quoted scan, and “Will mediclaim pay this?” OCT insurance in India is usually an OPD story. Optical coherence tomography, visual fields and angiography done in clinic as OPD tests are typically not covered unless an OPD rider exists. Home pharmacy is the same bucket. The operation those tests planned — a trabeculectomy, an injection series, a vitrectomy — is a different claim.
ReliveCure orders the test that changes the plan in Gurugram, Hyderabad, Pune or Mumbai. We will not pretend the isolated OCT invoice is cashless. Call +91 96500 23161. Screening first.
What “OPD” means on an eye file
You walked in. You walked out. No admission. That is OPD even if the machine is expensive. Insurers treat OCT, fields, fundus photos and many blood tests that way. Day-care surgery is the opposite myth: listed eye operations do not need a 24-hour bed to be valid. Tests are not that loophole.
Uveitis insurance already says workup is usually OPD. Diabetic retinopathy insurance says injections may be medical while OCT often is not. Glaucoma surgery insurance needs fields to prove function — and the field print itself may still sit on the unpaid OPD pile.
What the source table actually allows us to say
India private-market bands (not ReliveCure quotes):
| Item | Range | Typical cover |
|---|---|---|
| Uveitis workup (blood, imaging, OCT) | ₹6,000–25,000 | OPD — usually not, without rider |
| Neuro-ophthalmic assessment | ₹2,000–6,000 | OPD — usually not |
| MRI brain and orbit | ₹6,000–20,000 | Covered when admitted; OPD MRI often not |
| OPD tests and home medication (master row) | — | Usually not; needs OPD rider |
We do not invent a standalone ReliveCure OCT price. If your policy has an OPD rider, the TPA still reads the wording. Some riders cap OPD at a small annual pot that an OCT plus fields will finish in one visit. Usually / typically / depends on your policy. Cashless option also available. May not be as well — depends on the personal case.
Diabetes and glaucoma are long files. You may need OCT more than once a year. That repetition is why families get angry at billing. The calm version: we order the scan when it changes the plan, we tell you it is often yours, and we keep the printouts for the day an operation is the claim.
Parent: eye surgery insurance in India. Function surgery is paid when notes are honest. The scan that got you there is often your bill.
Documents that win the surgery claim (not the scan invoice)
Visual acuity, a field that shows the deficit, photographs, grading. Those sit in the operation file. Keep them. Do not expect the isolated “OCT – OPD” line to pay without a rider. Never ask us to write “elective” or “cosmetic improvement” on a glaucoma or retina test so it “sounds nicer.”
Call today versus a booked evaluation
Same day: sudden vision drop, a curtain, flashes with a shadow, a child with a white pupil. Phone +91 96500 23161. That is not an OCT-insurance debate.
Evaluation: you were quoted a scan, you want to know cover, the eye is stable enough to wait a slot.
Not this page: LASIK screening packages. Spectacle bills. Those are appliances / convenience.
Where ReliveCure fits
You come in. We decide which test changes the next step. We tell you honestly that OPD OCT is usually yours unless a rider says otherwise. When a covered operation is later honest, we take you through that plan. Cities: Gurugram, Hyderabad, Pune or Mumbai. We will not sell a “cashless scan.”
Free eye evaluation. +91 96500 23161.
